At an interview, Dhanush had said that he had learnt one thing from the Senior Bachchan- don’t tell anybody how one particular thing is done or not done. So when asked Big B whether Dhanush ever came and asked him about how to play his character, he instantly replied, “No, he is such an efficient actor, why would he ask me what to do. In fact, I would ask him, tell me how to do it, I want to learn from you.”
Being the professional he is, we were sure Big B would get totally into the skin of the character, so when asked him about doing the drunk scenes with so much ease in spite of not being an alcoholic he said, ‘No, it’s not like I haven’t had alcohol. In my younger days, I have had alcohol.’ So did he get drunk for a particular scene? “I don’t think alcohol should be consumed for any scene. But, I guess that there are some artists that do drink. They don’t obey the saying. They believe that acting can happen only when they drink. But I don’t believe in that. That’s my opinion, I am talking only about myself. I don’t know about the others, maybe they are doing it properly.”
Further when asked Big B how much time did it take for him to get into the SHAMITABH look he said, “It would take an hour, hour and a half because of my hair & makeup. There is a lady from Hollywood, who is a renowned makeup artist, she had done my PAA make up too. She & my makeup artist Deepak Saahu helped me with my look.”
SHAMITABH also stars Dhanush and marks Akshara Haasan debut in Bollywood. Produced by R K Damani, Rakesh Jhunjhunwaala, Sunil Lulla Abhishek Bachchan & Gauri Shinde, the film releases today, 6th February, 2015.
