As an actor Amole Gupte has done diverse roles but when it comes to direction, he has only directed children’s based films. From TAARE ZAMEEN PAR to STANLEY KA DABBA to now being HAWAA HAWAAI, all of Amole Gupte’s film dealt with problems or emotions related with children.
”I don’t author my roles because people who offer me roles are very talented filmmakers and after lot of deliberation I accept to do something in front of the camera. Whereas behind the camera it’s not like I am an obsessed film director. It’s only because I have some cause to put or something to address especially to the children, who have no voting rights.baccho ka kaun hai na aam hai na khaas hai na koi toh koi toh ho jo stories ke through awaaz uthaaye and make it into a film possible for nation to react. I believe after TAARE ZAMEEN PAR parents started looking at children differently. The idea was to make a change. Right now I am trying to set the rules of filmmaking into an ethical framework so as to protect the kids who are being/ who are misused by media,” says Amol.

”There’s requirement in India especially because all over Europe and in USA there are ethical rules which every filmmaker has to follow in order to be with children and work with them in media. I set my own rules and am trying to get a prototype done,” adds the filmmaker.
After STANLEY KA DABBA, Partho Gupte once again plays the lead in his dad’s film HAWAA HAWAAI. Ask Amole, if he would consider Partho being directed by other filmmakers if they come with offers, since Partho has only acted in the films directed by Amole and he reacts, ”Who said that Partho hasn’t been approached for any of the film? At least 100 opportunities have arisen after doing STANLEY KA DABBA. He even got the National Award that year. He was awarded with best actor Award in Germany among 140 other films. He won Big Star Award, Screen Award, Filmfare and many more for his performance…Awards don’t really matter because his childhood is more precious. Those who feel the need can come running to sign films, TV and endorsements.”

Does Amole agree with the fact that children lose their innocence when exposed to cinema and media at an early age? ”I don’t understand what you mean by maturity. When you are exposing a child from very young age to cinema, its fine he might not have experienced certain part of the industry by choice…so am I making him grow before his time or am I being prudent and giving him correct amount of knowledge required to be a good human that needs to be thought. Is being good human being overtly mature over and above childhood? All these thoughts and questions are important. As far as Partho is concerned, I am protective about him as a dad and filmmaker.”
Also starring Saqib Saleem, HAWAA HAWAAI, presented by Fox Star Studios, is set to release on May 9, 2014.
