The premier new release of the week, Anees Baazmee’s Anil-Arjun starrer MUBARAKAN, which saw a dull start (20-25 percent) during the morning shows, picked up substantially in the latter shows, based on a rather positive word-of-mouth. The start in some of the overseas circuits is quite encouraging too!
Having said that, given the fact that MUBARAKAN has just a one week window, before Imtiaz Ali’s SRK-Anushka starrer, JAB HARRY MET SEJAL, releases, the film has to put it’s best foot forward during the opening week itself.

The other releases of the week, Madhur Bhandarkar directed INDU SARKAR, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures’ BAARAT COMPANY and Tigmanshu Dhulia’s RAAG DESH, did not open too well, but can still make amends.
Meanwhile, last week’s Sabbir Khan directed Tiger Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nidhi Agarwal starrer, MUNNA MICHAEL, which saw a decent opening weekend (22.50 crore), could not quite capitalize on the first 4-day run, and ended the week netting 32 crore (to be validated) from India and has it’s task cut out, which now looks difficult, if not impossible, due a series of big releases, almost every week.
Concluding with Prakash Jha’s Ratna Pathak and Konkona Sen Sharma starrer, LIPSTICK UNDER MY BURKHA, the film managed a good opening week, netting 10-11 crore, and is sure to emerge as a clean success, if not hit!
