Anurag wanted the 12 directors to make a ten minute long film each. Interestingly these 12 stories are not short stories but 12 parts of the same feature film. The film is the story of a psychopath killer who commits a crime and leaves 12 different clues around the body for the police to solve the crime. These clues are left in 12 different cities and the police have to find the evidences before they can finally find the answer to the crime. The 12 directors were asked to make a film each surrounding the clue left in 12 different cities in the country. The narrative surrounding the 12 clues and the 12 short stories made by 12 directors come together to clear the mystery and reveal the identity of the dead man.
CHECK OUT: How Anurag Kashyap made it big
Speaking about the entire concept director Anurag Kashyap says, ‘I have always said that making a film is just about telling a story selflessly, honestly and fearlessly. This project, THE LAST ACT is on such journey for us and 12 film makers that we chose from across India. We had just seen it as collaboration but it has taken such a large shape that it has stunned us all. It’s an exciting shot in the arm for indie, short film makers.’
What is fascinating about the whole concept is that though the 12 directors have made the 12 films which is then intertwined to make a feature film but these 12 directors have not met each other or spoken to each other even once.”
