Arjun Kapoor the scion of the other Juhu Kapoor family recently has not a much happy time at the box-office but he is very upbeat about his forthcoming film ‘India’s Most Wanted’. The tall strapping bearded star spoke to media persons at the press meet of the film nursing an injury while shooting for his forthcoming Ashutosh Gowarikar;s historical ‘Panipat’. Over to Arjun.
What led to you starring in an off- beat film like ‘Indias Most Wanted’?
I am a huge fan of director Raj Kumar Gupta and had always nursed a desire to work with him. After seeing Raid I had called him up saying that the film is definitely a hit and expressed a desire to work with him and he sounded me with this very different script of five ordinary men who go into war zone and capture the most dreaded terrorist who has killed many in bomb explosions led by me. Though the film doesn’t have any romance or songs I happily said yes to the film and we completed the film in less than 50 days with shoots in Patna, Kathmandu and Mumbai. And I am very happy with the final product.
How was it like shooting with Raj Kumar Gupta?
He is a very precise director and knows how to get the best of actors and even though me and Rajesh Sharma were the only known faces he took the best of the debutant actors who were into theater and it was fun working with him.
How important is this film for you?
This film is very important for me as some of my previous films like Ki and Ka and Half Girlfriend and Namaste England had not done much for me but Mubarakan was a big hit thanks to director Anees Bazmee who just told me to come on the sets and without any hesitation do the scenes and it turned out fine and I am hoping that Indias Most Wanted does the trick for me.
Do you consult your father and uncles before doing a film?
That way I am very independent and generally take my own decisions but if sometimes I am unsure of what I am doing I do consult my family members especially my Dad.
Any inspirations in acting?
Yes. Most certainly my uncle Anil Kapoor who has had such a long and successful career in-spite of so many challenges.
My next will be Sandeep and Pinky Farrar directed by Dibakar Bannerjee which has been delayed because we couldn’t get a proper release date.
Any director on your wish list?
Yes. Zoya Akhtar. I just loved her ‘Gully Boy’.
There have been many personal turmoil and upheaval in your life recently ? How has it affected you?
Look who doesn’t have personal problems but that doesn’t mean he should break down but instead try to surge ahead after tackling those
