Before taking up acting, Raj Kapoor’s grandson, Armaan Jain assisted Karan Johar in the films MY NAME IS KHAN, EK MAIN AUR EKK TU and STUDENT OF THE YEAR.
Now that Armaan is all set to make his debut with upcoming film LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL, ask him what guidance he took from mentor Karan Johar and would want to follow throughout his career, and Armaan says candidly, ”I can speak endlessly about Karan Johar. I was thrilled that I was working under the maker of such humungous, brilliant films. I really admire Karan for his discipline, passion for cinema. He is a multi-tasker. I got inspired in every different way from him…Having said that, when I went to assist I thought I’ll learn many things and will be completely in form. However, I couldn’t learn acting. Actually, while assisting you can only learn the technical aspects. No one can teach you acting.”

But did Armaan stepped in Dharma Productions with the dream of becoming an overnight star? ”Frankly, I went there to learn and understand how films are made. I was very fascinated with films. I didn’t come with the expectation that I will be a star and Karan will launch me in some film…” says the newbie.
Armaan has been a die-hard fan of Dharma movies. In fact, he watched KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, directorial debut of Karan Johar, some 500 times.
”One of my favourite films in this world is KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI. I have watched it 500 times and cried whenever I watched it. I was six or seven when I first saw it. In fact there was a time when I wouldn’t miss any Sunday to catch up KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM (K3G) and KKHH. Even now when I see, I feel so fresh about the film…I realized how lucky I was to be in the same office, who churned out the two magnum opuses,” reveals Armaan.

Though he started his career with Dharma, he chose Illuminati Films and a debutant filmmaker Arif Ali for his acting debut. ”The thought of starting up with any established filmmaker didn’t cross my mind. For me it was important to fall in love with the script and the director. Tha’s it,” says Armaan
However, it’s Armaan’s dream to be directed someday in the Khandaani R. K. banner. ”Unfortunately no one is making films there. Yes, but of course it’s a dream that, at some level, I work with R K films. I hope someone take me in an RK film. It would big a dream come true,” shares the actor.
Armaan has also made short films and might take up directing if it interests him. Meanwhile he is gearing up for LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL, also starring Deeksha Seth, which is all set to release on July 4, 2014.
