Arshad: I had to really push myself to be mean to Sanjay Dutt

ZILA GHAZIABAD has released and as expected, it is Arshad Warsi who has secured good accolades for himself. As a villain, he has justified his presence and for the audience too, it is a welcome relief to see him doing something different than making them laugh. As he finds good acknowledgment coming his way for appearing as a modern day 'Gabbar Singh' (something that the makers were all this while trying to make audience believe), Arshad gets talking about the film.

"I think if I can connect this villain to anyone then it would be Gabbar Singh. In terms of overall 'andaaz', it is on the same lines. He is ferocious and mean. I didn't keep anyone particular in mind though since I never do that. I always like a character in a manner which is original. Even when I played Circuit, I wanted to stand out and look different from so many other actors who had played a 'tapori' before. Agar different karo toh mazaa aata hai. I am glad that audience has been able to accept me as a villain and thankfully I can now move on from being slotted as someone who does only comic roles,'' says Arshad.

In the process he has also managed to move on from being forever a Circuit to Sanjay 'Munnabhai' Dutt, what with a couple of dramatic encounters between the duo finding some cheers coming their way in ZILA GHAZIABAD.

Smiles Arshad, "Yes. It is for the first time that he and I are on the opposite sides of the fence. He is someone who I am very close. Hence I had trouble challenging him during those angry scenes. Even in JOLLY L.L.B. when I had to yell and shout at Boman (Irani), I had to psyche myself into believing that this was for just a movie. With Sanju also it's the same thing. I had to really push myself to be mean to him since we are friends and I have this respect for Sanju. For him it is easy since he is a switch-on-switch off actor. It isn't easy for me."
