Shoojit Sircar's MADRAS CAFE achieved what Nikhil Advani's D-DAY could not. Coming to the specifics, after an ordinary first day, whereby the film netted just about 4.75 crore, the positive word-of-mouth from the actual cinema frequenting audience worked for the John Abraham starrer, MADRAS CAFE, and the film managed a good 30-35 percent jump at the multiplexes on Saturday.
As per the Sunday trends, the film has improved further and may well end up netting 20 crore (approx.) during the opening weekend itself.
Given the 35 crore raw budget, even with reasonable stability during weekdays, MADRAS CAFE, may well become a profitable venture for Viacom 18, after accounting for non-theatrical rights.
Meanwhile, the winning journey of Rohit Shetty's SRK-Deepika starrer, CHENNAI EXPRESS, continues, though at a slower pace! The film has netted 200 crore from India, after just the third weekend.
