The prominent release of the week is Anurag Kashyap’s GAME OVER along with Hollywood’s MEN IN BLACK : INTERNATIONAL. Neither of the two is expected to make much of a dent in BHARAT’s second weekend run. However, MIB : INTERNATIONAL is expected to make a mark with it’s fans!
The premier Eid release (Wednesday), Ali Abbas Zafar directed Salman-Katrina starrer BHARAT, saw a bumper opening day (42 crore –Salman’s best) and then a predictable fall on the two subsequent days (Thursday & Friday) and again a pick up on during the two remaining days of the 5-day extended weekend, netting a huge 144-145 crore. What must be kept in mind is that the collections were hit on the opening day and again on Sunday, when India played against South Africa and Australia. All the same the reasonably steady weekdays run has ensured that the first week (9-days) will end around the 175 crore mark and with least a hit status. BHARAT was already on a safe wicket, taking into account its recoveries from satellite, digital and audio rights. BHARAT has also done quite well in the overseas (good in US) grossing nearly $7m with £610,000 from UK and $1,835,000 from the US, during the opening weekend (7-9 June).
