The reasonably good opening of David Dhawan‘s Rishi Kapoor, Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Divyendu Sharma and Taapsee Pannu starrer, CHASHME BADDOOR, may have taken some in the industry and trade by surprise but not us, as we had indicated the same in our box-office report. The other new release, the Luke Kenny and Kirti Kulhari starrer, RISE OF THE ZOMBIE, has not found many takers.

Coming to number crunching, CHASHME BADDOOR embarked on a 30-50 percent start (all India average) with the evening shows improving further. The good thing is that the feedback for CHASHME BADDOOR is quite encouraging, and the target audience (read campus crowd) is enjoying and identifying with the film. The film is doing best in the North, with Delhi-NCR returning impressive figures.
CHECK OUT: HIMMATWALA and reality check on remakes
Unfortunately the same cannot be said about Sajid Khan‘s Ajay Devgn starrer, HIMMATWALA, which failed to improve or consolidate after a reasonably good first day (around 11 crore) and ended the week netting in the range of 40-42 crore (to be validated). Given the heavy costs involved the film will find it difficult to tide over the losses.
