This Friday’s new release, Vipul Shah’s A. R. Murugadoss directed Akshay-Sonakshi starrer, HOLIDAY – A SOLDIER IS NEVER OFF DUTY, was not exactly expected to take an earth shattering start, still the 40 percent start on an average (50 percent at some places) is a letdown.

Having said that, the by and large positive word-of-mouth has already resulted is a noticeable pick up and HOLIDAY is likely to witness a good weekend haul.

The other new release, Nitin Kakkar’s FILMISTAAN, which is getting rave reviews, managed a poor 5-10 percent opening, but is also hoping for a reversal in fortunes.
Meanwhile last week’s major release, Hansal Mehta’s Rajkummar Rao starrer, CITYLIGHTS, managed a good show, netting 6 crore (to be validated) during the opening week, and is a clean success, given the reasonable involved costs, and the non-theatrical rights, already in place.
