The IPL has been in full swing with all their players and teams gearing up and pulling their socks up to catch hold of the IPL trophy. Even the audience cannot wait to see their favorite team holding up the cup.
However, recently the CSK captain M.S. Dhoni has got something to cheer for. His fans have done everything possible to support his team by cheering on the stadium or adorning themselves with yellow color to show their love for the team. In a recent addition to it, the fans gave him the name “Thala”. Though the name is bestowed on Ajith Kumar, one of the well-renowned actors of the south industry. Thala means Head in the Tamil language, its a short term of Thalaiva ( leader) as Dhoni heads Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and its all because of his captaincy, the way he leads the team, and the strategy he uses.
During the match between CSK and Delhi Daredevils at MA Chidambaram stadium on Wednesday, post the event Dhoni's response to the nickname during an interview, he said
"I have always said it's very special to get that kind of a nickname. It's a big nickname that they have given me. It feels really special. I didn't realize that it was part of the first CSK song Thala was part of it.
"The way I got accepted and the whole of Tamil Nadu – whenever they see me they don't call my name, they call me 'Thala' that they yell. So the moment I hear it, I know Its a fan of CSK and its different so It feels very special and it's nice not only to me but to the whole team as they have always come and supported us,"
One cannot deny that Dhoni has ruled his fan's heart whether in India or abroad and he is the one who has proved that hard work pays off. From his humble beginning from a ticket collector to the Captain of the Indian team, Dhoni has been a man of motivation for everyone around the world. Our Beloved Dhoni has scored many nicknames viz Mahi, Captain cool, MSD, Thala, and we pray he keeps scaling the names as he keeps scaling his career.
