Music directors Jatin-Lalit with a track record of super duper hit films like DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE, KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, KABHI KUSHI KABHIE GHAM, FANAA, DABANGG etc. do not need an introduction.

The duo hit instant success with their second film JO JEETA WOHI SIKANDAR starring Aamir Khan and directed by Mansoor Khan.
Though the film director Mansoor Khan gave them break, few know that the duo had to undergo the litmus test of pleasing legendary music maestro R. D. Burman, before their music was made public.
In an interview the duo informed, “We used to learn music at our father’s music class at Bandra. One of the students in our class was close to Mansoor Khan, who was making JO JEETA WOHI SIKANDAR. We requested her to help us meet him. She obliged and we got the opportunity to meet Mansoorji.”
“On the first meeting itself Mansoorji was bowled over by our compositions but he took time and after Aamir Khan also gave his nod he recorded the songs,” added Jatin.
With the songs recorded Jatin Lalit were on cloud nine wondering that the movie would make them star music directors but their pleasure was short lived as Nasir Hussain, Mansoor Khan’s father and producer of the film was not satisfied with music.
Nasir Hussain, who shared a huge rapport with R. D. Burman, with whom he had worked for over 20 years uninterrupted giving hit films like TEESRI MANZIL, CARAVAN, YAADON KI BAARAAT , HUM KISISE KUM NAHEEN etc. decided to get the music approved by his veteran buddy R.D. Burman.
After patiently listening to the music, R.D Burman was left mesmerized by the music and gave his thumps up.
Jatin-Lalit acknowledges, “When Panchamji (R. D. Burman lovingly addressed) gave his approval for the music we heaved a sigh of relief. Besides it was the ‘Best Award’ we have ever received in our life!”
