Initially, the hero or the heroine may not have been happy with their partner, but they eventually fell in love with their spouse. Here is a list of films which showed that to us!
DUM LAGA KE HAISHA
Yash Raj Film’s DUM LAGA KE HAISHA which released just yesterday is being loved by the audience. Bhumi Pednekar, who plays the role of Sandhya, a 22-year-old educated woman wants to get married to someone who loves and respects her. But, she is married to Prem Prakash Tiwari (Ayushmann Khurrana), who is uneducated but with dreams of his own. Like every man, he wanted a beautiful girl, but because of his father, he is forced to marry Sandhya. Sandhya tried to make her marriage work, but Prem (when drunk) insults her publicly and she leaves home and files for a divorce. They are asked to stay together for 6 months by the court to review their decision and ultimately everything falls in place and it’s a happy ending!
Jasmeet A.K.A Jazz (Katrina Kaif), who has been born & brought up in London, is forced to marry Arjun Singh (Akshay Kumar) a Punjabi gaon ka launda. Jazz & Arjun go to London and Jazz isn’t happy with her marriage. She then announces that she wants to marry her boyfriend. As the story proceeds, Jazz realizes that she is in love with Arjun and they live happily ever after back in Punjab!
HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM
Nandini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) & Sameer (Salman Khan) are in love with each other, but they are unsuccessful in taking their love story a step ahead. Nandini is then forced to get married to Vanraj (Ajay Devgn) who is in love with Nandini. Vanraj gets to know that Nandini is in love with Sameer and she was forced for the marriage. Vanraj then decides to reunite Nandini & Sameer, but Nandini recognizes Vanraj’s true love & chooses to be spend the rest of her life with him only.
RAB NE BANA DI JODI
To fulfill her father’s last wish, Taani (Anushka Sharma) gets married to Surinder Sahni (Shah Rukh Khan). She was very beautiful & lively, but isn’t the same now. Surinder, who is head over heels in love with her, fulfills all her demands. He even changes himself for her which ultimately leads to Taani falling in love with him.
Anjali (Shilpa Shetty) hails from an extremely rich and influential family and is in love with Dev (Suniel Shetty), who is very poor. Her family doesn’t approve of their relation & not wanting to hurt her parents she gives in and marries Ram (Akshay Kumar), who according to her parents is a perfect match for her. Initially Ram is unable to win Anjali’s love, but ultimately Anjali falls in love with him. Things take an ugly turn when Dev returns back in their life. He is now rich and wants to win his lady love back. Anjali is in love with her husband and has no wish to return to her former lover. Dev realizes his madness and he then lets the lovebirds be and marries his friend and business partner Sheetal Varma (Mahima Chaudhary).
MAIN MERI PATNI AUR WOH
Though this many not be exactly a not-happy-with-the-spouse kind of a story, it was a story of inferiority complex where Mithilesh (Rajpsl Yadav) who is short in height is married to a very beautiful & tall girl called Veena (Rituparna Sengupta). Veena is happy with her marriag, but Mithilesh is always worried and insecure about Veena. With Akash’s (Kay Kay Menon) entry, who is Veena’s childhood friend, he suspects a change in his wife's behavior and starts believing she wants to divorce him. He confesses his fear to Veena and tells her that she is free from all the wifely duties. But the hidden truth which is revealed at the very end ultimately brings the couple closer.
