Though it was expected that GANGS OF WASSEYPUR II, the follow up to Anurag Kashyap’s GANGS OF WASSEYPUR, would put up an impressive performance at the ticket window but unfortunately it was not so.
After a so-so first day (Wednesday) where the film netted around 2.50 crore, there was a fall on the very next day (Thursday). Though there was a small pick on the third day (Friday) on account of a holiday (Janamashtami), the film is likely to struggle at the ticket window, and will not be able to emulate the success of its predecessor, GANGS OF WASSEYPUR. And with EK THA TIGER poised to set the screens on fire from August 15, GANGS OF WASSEYPUR II has very little breathing space!

Moving on, Pooja Bhatt’s Sunny Leone starrer, JISM 2, managed a decent first week netting 28 crores (to be validated), thanks to the 21-22 crore weekend. The film is likely to fold up at around 35 crores from India, and will be a losing fare for the distributors.
Meanwhile Sachin Yardi’s Riteish-Tusshar starrer, KYAA SUPER KOOL HAIN HUM, held up well at select cinemas, in spite of a big fall elsewhere, and netted around 8.50 crores during the second outing. The Alt Entertainment venture has thus netted 43.50 crore (to be validated) in two weeks from India, and will finally end up as another hit for Balaji Motion Pictures.
