It is often said that the world of showbiz and the industry is hostile to outsiders and they end up having a hard time here. However, filmmaker Gautam Singh, who will soon be releasing his film GAON, disagrees. The filmmaker says that while the process of making the film was challenging, he got a lot of help from people in the industry.
“It was not easy for sure. But it was not that difficult too. Bollywood has enough space to accommodate anyone with some talent. There were always some good people who came forward to help me whenever I needed a hand,” says the filmmaker.
GAON is about a village called Bharatgaon and how it transforms thanks to the changes around it. In fact, while the film was being shot, a documentary was also made on the same. “Jazeera English followed my crew and the story of my village to produce a documentary film called ‘My Own Private Bollywood’. It has been shown on almost all the channels of Al Jazeera and is currently travelling through several international documentary film festivals,” he says.
What next? The filmmaker is keen on making more cinema. “I’m going to stay and make plenty of fun-filled meaningful cinema. That’s for certain!” he exclaims.
GAON – THE VILLAGE IS NO MORE is directed by Gautam Singh, stars Shadab Kamal, Neha Mahajan, Gopal K Singh, Rohit Pathak, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Omkar Das Manikpuri, Shishir Sharma, Praveena Deshpande. The film is slated to release on 26 October 2018.
