The prominent new release of the week, Gauri Shinde’s Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan (extended cameo) starrer, DEAR ZINDAGI, embarked on a good start at Metro and ‘A’ centre multiplexes.
As per inputs, the morning shows were in the 45-50 percent range, at the mentioned properties. The small city multiplexes too saw a decent opening. The film picked up further during the latter shows, based on a mixed feedback, tilting towards positive and also due to the by and large good critical acclaim.
The film, which has seen a limited release (1200 screens) is much lower at the single screens (15-20 percent. Having said that, DEAR ZINDAGI is multiplex heavy, with many single screens at B & C centres not witnessing a screening, which given the genre, is a smart move. The first day is likely to be in the 9-10 crore range.
DEAR ZINDAGI has also opened on a good note in the US (released by Reliance Big Pictures on Wednesday), grossing $435,000 in two days (Wednesday & Thursday).
To sum up, due to a reasonable 35 crore raw budget (excluding SRK’s fees, as he will partake in the profits), the film should sail through at the box-office.
The other two releases, SAANSEIN and MOH MAYA MONEY, could not make much of an impact, though the former (horror genre) saw some encouraging signs at single screens of massy centres.
Meanwhile, the two releases of last week, John-Sonakshi venture FORCE 2 and Anubhav Sinha’s TUM BIN 2, could not make much of a mark at the ticket window, during the opening week, netting 27-28 crore and 4-5 crore, respectively.
