This Friday's premium release, Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar's 2 STATES, was off to an expected good start at the multiplexes. The opening at the multiplexes varied from 50-60 percent on an average which increased to 70-75 percent during the latter shows at the 'A' centres. The Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer was helped in a big way by Chetan Bhagat's name as well as the Good Friday holiday. The first day is expected to be in the 10-11 crore range.
As per the initial reports from the overseas, 2 STATES, which had seen a big release (350 screens) for a relatively new star cast, has opened quite well, especially in the US.
Meanwhile, last Friday's Amitabh Bachchan starrer, BHOOTHNATH RETURNS, managed a good first week, netting 30 crore (to be validated) from India. The film is a sureshot success for the makers, T-Series, whose golden run as producers continues at the box-office.
