For someone who was widely recognized as an actress of substance after the release of BOL, the wait for Humaima Malick to be seen in a Bollywood flick is getting over with RAJA NATWARLAL. As Emraan Hashmi’s love interest in the film, she is happy to be making a beginning in the industry.

”Yes, and I don’t mind taking this as a fresh start for me in the world of Hindi films,” says Humaima, ”Yes, I have done a strong performance oriented role very early in my career but then commercial cinema teaches you a lot of things too. I have come from Pakistan to this nation where I don’t know anyone. Still, to make a debut with a film where I have a good co-star in Emraan Hashmi, five good songs and of course a good character detailing; I am content.”
She does acknowledge the fact that even though BOL took her worldwide as she was carrying the film on her shoulders, there would be relatively lesser responsibilities of pulling off a film in case of RAJA NATWARLAL.
”Dekhiye, whether it is Bollywood or Hollywood, it is a male dominated industry. I am a star in my country but then here I am a newcomer. I don’t mind that at all though,” she smiles, ”Moreover, Kunal (Deshmukh) is such a fine director and the narrative of RAJA NATWARLAL is such that it bowls you over. He is quite intelligent too to bring his characters well into the scheme of things.”
She adds, ”I can name some of the biggest films where a heroine’s character has this little space in the film and still they celebrate their success. In that aspect, I know where I stand in RAJA NATWARLAL. Beyond that, it would be wrong on my part too to start expecting the moon. I have to accept a role within the boundaries of what excited me most and from that perspective, RAJA NATWARLAL is just the perfect start.”
We look forward to some good times on screen indeed once this UTV production hits the screens all over this Friday.
