Indra Kumar, whose last film GRAND MASTI was huge hit, is now gearing up for his next film SUPER NANI starring Rekha, Sharman Joshi and Shweta Kumar.
However, what surprised us was the stark difference in the subject of his two films. While GRAND MASTI was an out and out sex comedy, SUPER NANI is a family film.
Ask him how did he decide to do SUPER NANI and he says, “I have never done same thing. If you observe, I did DIL, which was a film for the youngsters and then I did BETA, a complete family film. It is a different story that in the last 10 years I got stuck in making comedy films, not that I didn’t enjoy making comedy. But in that also I made some changes. For instance, I didn’t take a heroine in DHAMAAL. Ten years back I made MASTI, which dealt with a subject of how a husband is tired of his wife, gets involved in an affair outside and then comes back home after learning a lesson. The subject that I showed was different and much ahead of its times.”
While MASTI was appreciated for its adult humour, people thought he went a little overboard with GRAND MASTI. Probe him about it and he defends, “Well, I don’t know why people feel that. Everyone today has a mobile phone with dirty messages in it. I just put those dirty jokes on screen.”
He further added, “If our country wouldn’t have been a hypocrite, GRAND MASTI would have earned 300 crores. Everyone downloaded GRAND MASTI on their computers. And not just once, every individual must have watched it for almost 25 times after downloading it. Many people told me that they didn’t watch the film out of fear of what others will think if they see them watching this film. But let me tell you people who say that they don’t enjoy dirty jokes are the biggest tharkis!”
Well, we wonder what people have to say about this one!
