Irrfan Khan was answering a question by a media person about the latest incident of gang rape in Mumbai. He felt that the rape menace would grow further. When asked as to what makes him think so, he said that the way women are portrayed today has much to do with it. They are looked at as an object of desire. However, he refused to accept the suggestion that Bollywood item numbers and films also play a role in such objectification of women. He said that films titillate those who want to be titillated and thus it will be wrong to blame cinema for the growing menace.

THE LUNCHBOX is releasing in India on 20th September 2013 after having completed a very successful festival run around the globe. It will be presented by Karan Johar and distributed by UTV Disney. Apart from Irrfan Khan the cast includes Nimrat Kaur, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Denzil Smith, Nakul Vaid and Lillete Dubey. It’s the story of a middle class housewife Ila (Nimrat Kaur) whose special lunchbox meant for her husband gets mistakenly delivered by a Mumbai dibbawala to an office clerk Saajan (Irrfan Khan), a man about to retire after long years of service. The lunch box also has a note in it and thus begins a romantic dialogue and a platonic bonding between two strangers, an ignored house wife and an aged office clerk.
