This intrigues Bollywood watchers. Is it a mere co-incidence or there is more to it than what meets the eye? You cannot really know. What goes on in the fertile and vainglorious heads of Bollywood stars is nearly unfathomable. It’s even more impossible than reading and interpreting a woman’s mind.
|HAPPY NEW YEAR and PK|
Now, look at this co-incidence. Some time back Shah Rukh Khan launched the first look of his film HAPPY NEW YEAR. It was a grand affair organized at the banquet hall, the biggest Mumbai city can offer, of a suburban five star hotel.
Even before the buzz of the event died down, Aamir Khan launched the second poster of his film PK in a press conference. He admitted that the poster was to be launched earlier but the dates were changed to avoid diluting the impact of HAPPY NEW YEAR first look launch. This sounded like a generous gesture from one star member of the fraternity to another.
Next, Shah Rukh Khan launches the music of HNY at Yash Raj Studios in another glittering extravagantly produced event that was broadcast live online.
The co-incidence strikes again.
This time it just takes a few hours for Aamir Khan to release the third poster of PK through a post on a micro-blogging site. It almost looks like a deliberate move to undermine Shah Rukh’s HAPPY NEW YEAR promotion.
There is no apparent logic behind the clash of the promotion schedules of the two most important films of the year that are releasing at dates quite far apart. HNY is releasing at Diwali and PK at Christmas, which is a gap of two whole months. That makes one wonder why PK first look was launched so well in advance, just before HNY’s.
So, should we surmise that there exists a rivalry, professional or personal, between the two super stars and it’s the real reason behind these apparent co-incidences? And it does not seem to be a healthy or friendly rivalry.
