John Abraham apart from acting has also stepped down as a producer in the film industry. The actor has been living a dream of over five years and he also owns his own team NorthEast United FC. John has now pulled up his socks as he is all set to one of India’s most historic matches to the screen, which date back to 1911. As per a leading daily John will recreate the historic moment with this film and the makers have picked up the iconic year as its title.
As per the daily, director and producer Nikhil Advani says that its John's pet product so his face lights up whenever he narrates the story. Further, the director revealed that he had approached John for 1911 before BATLA HOUSE that is currently undershoot. The film is expected to roll in November 2019 and will be shot in Kolkata over the next three months, targeting a mid-2020 release. The duo will be collaborating with Bhushan Kumar with whom they recently signed off a 6 film deal.
Talking about the 1911 historic year, the Mohun Bagan Athletic Club was established in 1889 by three aristocratic Bengali families – Bose, Mitra and Sen — in North Kolkata. The team won its first trophy, the Coochbehar Cup, in 1904, after Subedar Major Sailen Basu, the first high-ranking Indian officer of the 49th Bengal Regiment, took charge as club secretary in 1900. After being knocked out in the second round for two years, the club started its Indian Football Association (IFA) Shield campaign in 1911 on July 10 against St. Xavier’s. The side was captained by Shibdas Bhaduri, with Abhilash Ghosh as the centre forward and Srischanda ‘Habul’ Sarkar as inside forward, Rajendranath Sengupta in the midfield and Bhuti Sukul as the right back, and Hiralal Mukherjee as the goalkeeper. Sudhir Chatterjee was the only one in the team who wore boots and Shibdas’s brother, Bijoydas, was the oldest player at 30.
John earlier has played as a football player in 2007 film DHAN DHANA GOAL along with Arshad Warsi. While John awaits for the shoot, we too cant get rid over this excitement.
