Though it is still quite some time for 2 STATES to hit the screens, there is already good curiosity build up towards the film. An adaptation of the Chetan Bhagat book by the same name, the film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar with Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt playing the lead roles.

Considering the fact that Chetan’s ‘Five Points Someone’ was reasonably altered once Rajkumar Hirani made it into 3 IDIOTS while Abhishek Kapoor too had his own take on ‘The 3 Mistakes of my Life’, one wonders how close is first time director Abhishek Varman’s interpretation of 2 STATES.

“Well, Abhishek is honest to Chetan Bhagat’s book; he has not tampered with the content. When we were looking at making it into a film, everyone else tried to do different things to the book. However, Abhishek has been true to the book,” says Karan who has also picked up the rights of Amish Tripathi’s bestseller ‘The Immortals of Meluha’ to turn into a film.

Rights of 2 STATES were with Sajid Nadiadwala who decided to make the film with Karan. “Sajid was gracious enough to have great faith in the script that Abhishek came up with,” says Karan, “The film is progressing really well.”

Also starring Amrita Singh, Revathy and Ronit Roy, 2 STATES is aiming for release on 18th April’14 release.
