Karan Johar goes Anurag Kashyap’s keh ke loonga way for GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN

Is it the company he keeps these days? It may be the case. He has been fraternizing with the harbinger of scatological/bawdy humor in Indian cinema, the new age ‘maverick’ who brought the ‘keh ke loonga’ kind of vocabulary to the mainstream, the one and only Anurag Kashyap. It’s not that KJo shied away from it earlier but that was mostly confined to his anchoring assignments and press conferences where he would say things and crack jokes with his characteristic ‘gay’ abandon. KJo has now firmly tied his knots with Kashyap and has been associated in various capacities with three films that were incubated at AKFPL namely BOMBAY TALKIES, THE LUNCHBOX, and the under-production magnum opus BOMBAY VELVET.

Things are changing it seems if we go by the content and contours of the latest offering of his super-successful banner Dharma Productions. The portentous indications come from the trailer of GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN, a film directed by his protege Punit Malhotra and starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor. It has dialogues like ‘jab kuch khaya hi nahin to nikalenge kya’ uttered by a hard-core ass-kicking Kranti Queen and a social activist played by Kareena Kapoor Khan Sahiba of Pataudi.

Karan Johar, while formally releasing the trailer in a suburban Mumbai multiplex, was also forthright about the ‘pressure’ before the ‘release’ of his ‘films’ of course. 22 November 2013, is the date he will have his moment of relief from such pressure with the release of GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN.
