An epic drama set in the ’40s that was conceptualized by Karan Johar with his late father Yash Johar almost 15 years ago is now a reality in the form of KALANK. The teaser of the film will be out on 12th March. The release of Abhishek Varman's KALANK is now been advanced by 2 days. The film will open on Wednesday, April 17, as against the originally announced date, April 19 to en-cash on the upcoming important days. “The idea is to capitalize on Mahavir Jayanti as well as Good Friday, besides Saturday and Sunday. It’s an extended weekend with two partial holidays. And going by past records, it’s a good time for a big film to release,” said a source close to the development.
The change in the release date also means that the Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios production will get a nine-day unencumbered run, until April 26, when AVENGERS: END GAME, the finale of the superhero franchise, explodes on screen. “It’s a well thought out business decision to advance the opening,” the source reasons.
The film features Varun Dhawan (Zafar), Alia Bhatt (Roop), Sanjay Dutt (Balraj), Madhuri Dixit (Bahaar), Aditya Roy Kapur (Dev) and Sonakshi Sinha (Satya). The posters of all the characters were released in quick succession recently and have left the audiences intrigued.
