Bollywood’s famous Kapoor Khandaan is known for restricting its female members into films but Karisma Kapoor broke the barrier by becoming the first Kapoor lady to be in films. How did the miracle happen? Well, Karisma in an interview revealed the secret. When asked how she achieved the impossible feat she said, “It is true that I have been passionate about acting since my childhood and had only one dream that was to act on screen but more than my obsession it was my dadu (grandfather) Raj Kapoor’s encouragement that infused in me the energy to make it into films.”
“At a young age dadu had seen a budding actress in me. One day he called me nearby and affectionately asked, ‘Do you wish to act in films?’ I nodded. Blessing me he said, ‘If you become an actress then mark my words you will be one of the best actresses,” revealed Karisma.
She continued, “When I became an actress with my debut movie PREM QAIDI, I was on sky nine but suddenly after that I passed through a lean phase and gave a series of flops. The critics wrote me off and the producers began shrinking but my dadu’s encouraging words kept ringing in my ear ‘You will be one of the actresses’ and it was his inspiring words that proved a motivational force and I came back with a vengeance!”
