Sir released in France on the 26th of December and was listed as one of the top 3 films (Number 2 after the animation film Mirai) to watch based on consolidated reviews by the french press (source Allociné) in 85 theatres. The audience rating is 4 out of 5 and it is second amongst all the films of the week, just after the family film Mia and the white lion.
The first day Sir scored 8308 entries from 85 screens, stronger than The Lunch Box who was at 7320 with 95 screens in the hexagone (country).
On Saturday 29th Sir was the top film of choice in 6 multiplexes in Paris (Lincoln, Parnassiens, UGC Gobelins, Gaumont Convention, Mk2 Bastille and Mk2 quai de Loire) even topping the blockbuster Aquaman in some.
Entering the second week, Michel Saint-Jean (French distributor and Owner of Diaphana Distribution) has decided to widen the release and push more copies out. “Sir is not a french mainstream film but its universality and message of hope gets the french audience to strongly connect with the film. We are very confident of its commercial success.”
