The very special film, LISTEN AMAYA, directed by Avinash Kumar Singh, marks the comeback of the most lovable couple of their era, Farooq Sheikh and Deepti Naval. And no wonder movie buffs are looking forward to the film, which also stars Swara Bhaskar, essaying the title role of Amaya.

The film probes the emotional conflict between a single mother and a possessive daughter who cannot deal with the idea of another man in her mother’s life. Deepti Naval essays the role of a single mother who refuses to break down after the untimely death of her husband and owns and runs an offbeat library-cum-coffee shop.

The idea of a single parent emotionally involved is something that not many Hindi films have probed before. There have been a few, but it has mostly been handled as a sub plot. The script and story itself is very contemporary, one that the discerning and class audience will surely patronize. The free spirited, financially independent and emotionally strong mother essayed by Deepti Naval will certainly charm women who will identify with the character easily.

Even the character of Amaya is also well woven, she is volatile, slightly disturbed, edgy and career oriented, at times quite inconsiderate and selfish, but highly lovable, characters seen in abundance these days. And Farooq Sheikh’s character of a vagabond retired photographer will also strike a chord with the audience and so will the rest of the characters.

The Ashok Sawhny produced film is definitely a toady’s film and is all set to release on 1st February, 2013.
