AASHIQUI 2 has done the trick. The romantic musical has done well with the audience and is now a clean success. Well, pun intended because other than being a ‘clean’ earner financially, what with producers, distributors as well as exhibitors making good money, it has also turned out to be a rare ‘clean’ outing from the Bhatt camp, hence leaving behind a series of erotic affairs that had earned moolah for them.

“That’s good for everyone because Mohit (Suri) was sure about not going ahead with any erotica or violence for his next film. He had taken that to a certain level with his last hit MURDER 2 and wanted to take a break from these elements. He wanted to do something meaningful,” says his uncle and producer Mahesh Bhatt.
Moreover, a personal tragedy was further responsible for him exploring a different world both in front as well as behind the camera.

“Mohit was going through an unusual space some time back. After the release of MURDER 2, he had lost his father. He strangely felt like this guy who had entered a wasteland of sorts. There was a lot of sorrow in him and he was in great anguish. AASHIQUI 2 was his means to channel it out in the most effective way,” says Bhatt in his characteristic animated manner.
Guess it has turned out to be effective after all, what with audience too giving the film a firm nod of approval.
