Meera Chopra: Vikram Bhatt told me to go ahead for GANG OF GHOSTS

Debutante Meera Chopra is in elite company. For her very first Bollywood film GANG OF GHOSTS, she is being launched by Satish Kaushik. For a filmmaker who has worked with the likes of Sridevi, Kajol, Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor as his leading ladies, young Meera came as a whiff of fresh air. Even though the part that Meera plays doesn't really require any histrionics on display, the debutante is happy that she could impress the filmmaker who is an NSD alumnus.

"Satishji is extremely happy for me. When someone like him, who has worked with so many great actresses, tells me that I am one of the first girls who he finds to be so comfortable with my dialogues, I take that as a compliment," says Meera who plays the pretty ghost of a rich girl in the Ratan Jain production.

There are certain scenes in the film that required numerous pages of dialogues to be mouthed in a single go by her. While that could well be a tough task for many an experienced actress, it turned out to be a cakewalk for young Meera.

"Guess my power of memorizing lines came in handy here. I learnt it all in South as I had to cram up a lot of things since I didn't know the language there. That experience helped. Satishji was in fact vocal enough in acknowledging that he hasn't seen many girls remember their dialogues so well," she smiles.

Even though GANG OF GHOSTS, which releases this Friday, is an ensemble starrer, Meera is glad that she picked up the film.

"As a matter of fact it was an ensemble set up that tempted me the most," she reveals, "The girl that I am playing is just like me in the real life. Moreover, it is very different from my part in 1920-LONDON for which I have already shot. When I asked Vikram Bhatt (the film's producer) about stepping into GANG OF GHOSTS, he told me to go ahead without thinking twice. He knew I would fit in well there. To have two experienced directors believe in you is indeed something, isn't it?"
