In a rare gesture Menaka Gandhi, the well-known animal rights activists and politician, attended the trailer launch of the latest Akshay Kumar starrer IT'S ENTERTAINMENT and endorsed the film that stars a dog.
She was the chief guest at the event held at a suburban Mumbai multiplex. It was attended by the cast and crew of the film including Akshay Kumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Johnny Lever, Prakash Raj, Sonu Sood, Krushna Abhishek, and the writer-director duo Farhad-Sajid. The film's producer Ramesh S. Taurani, and its presenter Jayantilal Gada were also present on the occasion.
While answering the queries of the media she said that her association with Akshay is 15 years old when the star took part in a fund raising event for her NGO People For Animals (PFA) that runs shelters, ambulance services, dog sterilization programs, treatment camps and disaster rescue missions for animals in various parts of the country.
When asked what prompted her to endorse the film she said that she watched the trailer of the film and found no evidence of the dog having been mistreated during the filming process which according to her was not the case with all films. In her plain talk she mentioned that filmmakers subverted the existing laws and treated animals badly.
