The prominent new releases of the week, Tigmanshu Dhulia’s MILAN TALKIES, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directed MERE PYAARE PRIME MINISTER and Ritesh Batra’s Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer, PHOTOGRAPH could not make much of a mark at the box-office, though the front runner turned out to be MILAN TALKIES closely followed by PHOTOGRAPH. Still the collections are not something to make a noise about (all below 10 percent)! Having said that, the new releases can still hope for a turnaround in fortune, given the upcoming festive Holi week.
Meanwhile, last week’s Red Chillies and Azure Entertainment’s Amitabh-Taapsee starrer, BADLA, which lagged CAPTAIN MARVEL by 7-8 crore on the opening day, finally caught up with the Hollywood venture on Wednesday (surpassing it on Thursday!), something which we had predicted.
Coming to the number crunching, CAPTAIN MARVEL has netted 57 crore during the opening week and can be considered a good success if not hit. On the other hand, BADLA, saw an inspired run netting 38 crore during the first week and given the 25 crore (all inclusive) cost, it may well turn out to be another hit for the PINK team of Big B and Taapsee Pannu. BADLA has additionally mopped up over $2m from the overseas with $850,000 from the US.
