Very much as we had said in our box-office report, Sony Pictures Networks’ Diljit, Taapsee and Angad starrer SOORMA fared best in the North. The sports biopic, based on the life of legendary drag flicker, Hockey champ Sandeep Singh, opened to a 35 percent response in Delhi-NCR and East Punjab (quite good!), while the remaining circuits were much lower at about 25 percent. Having said that, the film is likely end up with a decent weekend haul and a reasonable success, touché wood.
The second release of the week Rajneish Duggal and Krushna Abhishek starrer , TERI BHABHI HAI PAGLE, saw some patronage with the target audience, more so in the hinterland, which augurs well for the fortunes of the film.
Meanwhile as predicted, the two week old Rajkumar Hirani’s Ranbir-Anushka starrer, SANJU, was once again the front runner on the third Friday, after a superb 90 crore week, which means that the blockbuster hit has netted 290 crore in two weeks from India, and should cross the 300 crore mark today. The Vidhu Vinod Chopra Productions and Rajkumar Hirani Films’ SANJU is ruling the overseas grossing $17.50m (approx) with US accounting for $6.70m, at the end of the second week.
