It was way back in 2013, early March to be precise when we had met Nawazuddin Siddiqui, just after he had completed the shooting of Ketan Mehta’s MANJHI – THE MOUNTAIN MAN, in Agra. The shooting venue was a railway track with Taj Mahal as the back drop.
The master actor, still in the get up and character of the film, was very excited and recounted how he had met the concerned families to get those perfect nuances that he is now well known for. He oozed with confidence about MANJHI – THE MOUNTAIN MAN.
Why are we getting nostalgic? The reason is very simple. We thought that MANJHI – THE MOUNTAIN MAN would turn out to be a good and classy film, but belong to that niche art house cinema.
However when we saw the trailer, it was an amazing experience, as the promo turned to be quite lively and not dull and stark. We just wondered how Nawaz managed to deliver one brilliant performance after another!
When we caught up with the actor, he told us, “We are through with the promotion of MANJHI – THE MOUNTAIN MAN’s teaser. As I had told you then (2013), the film is very close to my heart and I have thrown in everything in to my character. Thankfully I am getting some amazing reactions and feedback for the film (especially online) and I am thrilled. Do let me know the reactions of others.”
With that we parted ways, with Nawaz promising a detailed talk on Eid, a rare holiday for the very busy actor!
