The prominent new releases of the week, Riteish-Vivek’s BANK CHOR Neha and Rajveer starrer G KUTTA SE and Sharib Hashmi’s PHULLU, saw an ordinary start at the ticket window.
Comparatively speaking BANK CHOR was the front runner, but the opening was a bare 8-10 percent while the rest were even lower. With Salman Khan’s TUBELIGHT all set to release next week, the new releases face a bleak future.
Interestingly, the Punjabi film SUPER SINGH, featuring the one and only Diljit Dosanjh, which also released alongside the above mentioned films, may well turn out to be a winner.
Meanwhile, the two major releases of last week, Sushant-Kriti’s RAABTA and the Rajkummar Rao starrer BEHEN HOGI TERI, have failed at the box-office. For the stat conscious, RAABTA netted 20-21 crore while BEHEN HOGI TERI was below the 5 crore mark, during the opening week.
Concluding with the Irrfan Khan starrer, HINDI MEDIUM, the film saw another rock steady week as it added 6.50 crore, thus netting 61.50 crore (to be validated) in four weeks from India, and is a super hit. And we are not even talking about the expected $2m from the overseas!
