New releases are poor, SKY ends in red, Hrithik-Tiger’s WAR continues!

The multiple releases of the week, namely GHOST, KIRKET, JUNCTION VARANASI, LOVE SHOT, P SE PYAAR F SE FARAAR, LAAL KAPTAAN etc. were expectedly poor to dull with a 5 to10 percent occupancy, during the morning shows,  with little or no improvement towards the evening. The best of the lot was obviously Saif Ali Khan’s LAAL KAPTAAN, but given the confusing script of the film, the audience feedback too was not positive. Additionally the dull pre- Diwali phase added to the woes of the new releases, as the cinema frequenting junta awaits HOUSEFULL 4!

Meanwhile, last week’s Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim starrer, THE SKY IS PINK, could not quite capitalize on the positive reviews and a fair weekend (11 crore) and ended up  netting 16 crore during the opening week from India and is a commercial failure.

Concluding with Yash Raj Films’ Siddharth Anand directed WAR, starring Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff and Vani Kapoor,  the film continued its winning run and at the end of the second Thursday, it has netted  272-275 crore from India and is a super-hit, even if we don’t take into account the good (superb $4m in the US) overseas run!
