The first releases of 2015, Ashima Films’ MUMBAI CAN DANCE SAALA and Dipannita Sharma’s TAKE IT EASY, have failed to enthuse the audience, who yet again preferred to watch the two week old PK. Both the new releases managed an opening of just around 8-10 percent, on an average.

Meanwhile Anurag Kashyap’s UGLY managed low end collections during the weekdays, netting around 3.50 crore during the opening week, and is a box-office failure.
Concluding with Rajkumar Hirani’s Aamir Khan starrer, PK, the film saw a rock steady and record breaking second week of over 90 crore, thus netting 270 -272 crore (to be validated) in two weeks from India. The film is an all time blockbuster for the worldwide distributors (Disney and UTV) and now also the biggest ever grosser of Indian cinema. PK is all set to zoom past the triple century mark and achieve another first for an Aamir Khan venture (after GHAJINI ‘s century and 3 IDIOTS’ double century).
PK is also setting records in the overseas, and it will be interesting to see when and if it becomes the first Indian film to touch the $10m mark in the US. Just to elaborate, PK has grossed $9.2m in the US till this point of time (Ist January 2015).
