Nikhil Advani: Happy that Vidya suggested equality theme at IFFM

For the fourth year in a row Vidya will be seen as the face of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. But what is special is this time around the festival theme, which is around equality, has been suggested by Bollywood’s favorite and the lovely Vidya Balan. And look who is impressed by Vidya’s idea. Well it’s none other than filmmaker Nikhil Advani, maker of KAL HO NAA HO, SALAAM-E-ISHQ a D-DAY and now gearing up for KATTI BATTI.

Nikhil, who is on the panel of jury members for The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne that celebrates Indian cinema internationally, says, “I love this year’s theme of equality. I am really happy that Vidya suggested a theme which even I love and support. I have been a supporter of this festival right from its inception days. The fact that they have – ‘supported and advocated equality to embrace the diversity that defines us all makes it even more special to me. I look forward to celebrating our cinema in Melbourne next month.”

Other jury members also include Simi Garewal, a popular Indian critic, Australian director of THE WATER DIVINER- Andrew Anastasios and also an award winning Australian film editor. 

The Indian Film Festival will kick start from 14th to 27th August 2015 in Melbourne.
