“If you look at the content for children, it’s almost negligible. And the little that I see is very scary. My son watches sometimes. I watch it with him and it scares me to see the kind of children’s content that we are making,” said Aamir.
He further added, “I also found out that 80% kids are not watching children’s content, they are watching content which their parents are watching. What is the impact on kids? How we make children perceive what honesty is? Today, unfortunately, we are in a time where dishonesty is looked upon. People laugh at a person who is honest. How do we bring in a quality that people and children can admire? Caring is such an important quality that all of us need. How can we bring that in children? Imagine a generation 20 or 10 years from now, which grows up on content which evokes feeling s and qualities like sensitivity and sharing as a concept. Imagine the kind of economic growth that will propel. I am not taking about the economic growth of the film industry. But as a nation, that is the opportunity we have in the industry – to transform the way we think and address issues.“
Aamir Khan also stressed upon the potential that creative people have in nation building. “We as entertainers and as creative people can bring about a dynamic change to society. That opportunity is there with us. It’s up to us whether we want to take it or not. We can bring grace to society. We can build the social fabric of India. We can contribute to nation building in a very dynamic way in what we choose to tell our children though our stories and characters,” said the 50-year-old actor on a concluding note.
