The new release of the week, Nishkant Kamat’s Ajay, Tabu and Shriya starrer, DRISHYAM, managed some good reviews, but unfortunately the opening was quite ordinary for a project of this size and cast.

Coming to the details, DRISHYAM managed a start of around 20 percent on an average, with some pick up during the latter shows, especially in Mumbai-Mahrashtra. The film is expected to manage a decent weekend haul (based on positive word-of-mouth), despite the slowish start, and the still on BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN wave.
Meanwhile last week’s critically acclaimed Richa Chadda starrer, MASAAN, could barely mop up around 2.25 crore during the opening week, and has disappointed commercially, though not critically.
Concluding with Kabir Khan’s Salman, Kareena and Nawazuddin starrer, BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN, the film saw a rock steady 88-90 crore week, thus netting 274 crore (to be validated) in two weeks from India and is a blockbuster hit.
BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN is also on a superb run in the overseas, and will end up near the $20m mark, the biggest grosser in Salman’s career.
