This Friday’s major release, BAAHUBALI Prabhas’s slick action thriller SAAHO, embarked on a good to great start of 50 percent on an average, during the dreaded morning shows.
The regional versions of the film were even better. The first day appears to be around the 25 crore mark.
And this, despite the fact that the 2K prints of the film could not be delivered on time at many places.
Having said that, a section of the trade feels that SAAHO will continue on an impressive run throughout the opening weekend, but after that the film may not be able to maintain the same momentum.
Meanwhile, the two Independence day releases saw a good follow up week, post a good extended opening week.
Coming to the actual stats, while Akshay Kumar’s MISSION MANGAL (on way to a blockbuster) added another 48 crore for a two week haul of 173 crore, the John Abraham starrer BATLA HOUSE (now a clean hit) managed 25 crore thus netting 85 crore in two weeks, both totals to be validated.
In the overseas, it is a one horse race in favour of MISSION MANGAL, with the film all set to zip the $3m mark in the US (the biggest for an Akki solo by a long shot), while our patrons read this!
