When it comes to CHAKRAVYUH, it is a known fact that the currently prevailing Naxal movement finds itself at the center of affairs in the film’s narrative. While audience could relate to films like GANGAJAL and RAAJNEETI since they were about cops and politics respectively, isn’t it a bigger challenge for Prakash Jha to present Naxals, since they aren’t the ones that everyone is expected to have good enough context and background about?

“That is why it is all the more important to bring an issue like that in the public domain,” immediately says Jha, “Look at this way. We have been harping about this image of shining India where supposedly there is this great wealth generation process on. Have we ever wondered though that there is this large population still being left behind and the issue is only turning out to be more and more insurmountable? Have we tried to think how we could fill this gap? Or whether people in the interiors are actually benefiting from this shining India?”

Jha says that it is due to this widening gap that there is violence erupting in various parts of the country.
“Aapne industrial area mein dekha hi hoga ki kaise resentment badh gayi hai” he continues, “The worrying part is that the whole idea of Naxalism isn’t relegated to the jungle anymore, it is coming to our neighborhood rather fast. It is not just important but also about time that this story is told.”
