She kick-started the year with GUNDAY and is going the whole hog for MARY KOM, which has now been finalized for arrival on 2nd October. While her first holiday release, where she is the only star attraction, is indeed a reason to cheer about, Priyanka also believes that stardom doesn't come with an age restriction.
"I guess if as an actor you are holding a performance and as a star you are commanding success then it is a lethal combination. We are seeing this worldwide for actors, both male and females, regardless of the age. I truly believe that it does not matter whether someone is 10, 20 or 30 years old; as long as you are getting commercial success and making a path for yourselves which makes cinema work, it is all worth it," says Priyanka, who would also be beginning work on DIL DHADKNE DO this year.
With a commercial biggie like KRRISH 3 under her belt and an award winning performance in commercial-cum-critical success BARFI!, Priyanka looks at Meryl Streep for inspiration.
"I mean look at her. She has been there for 40 years and is still one of the most saleable actresses in the world. That's because she is a star and people want to watch her. So whether it is male or female, time and age has nothing to do with it," reasons Priyanka, "After all, talent is talent."
As for her, she is looking at an amalgamation of star value as well as respect as an actress.
"I believe that's the way to go to about it. The best case scenario is for someone who can get commercial as well as critical acclaim," she says, "The reason is simple; when we make pictures, we don't want to sit in our drawing room to watch it and appreciate ourselves. We want people to appreciate our work and also make our work commercially successful. Guess it's all about choices and the fact that I have worked with some amazing directors. I am very fortunate that it has fallen well in place for me."
