Says the actor, ”The journey and struggle of Deepak was very hard. I was going through it and living it every day with Deepak. So it emotionally drained me completely.”
Rajkummar Rao is one actor who has been noticed even when he has played small roles in films like TALAASH. Ask him the secret for this and he says, ”All my energies were always focused on my craft. I was not looking anywhere less. I was just exploring myself as an actor. I just want to improve with every film. That worked in my favour.”
But after winning the National Award, the actor says he would no longer be playing minor roles. ”I won’t play small roles. I am a greedy actor. I want to be on screen for a longer time.”

While most actors rely heavily on their PR machineries, Rajkummar thinks a bit differently. ”I am not against marketing. Of course you have to hire a PR. I also have a PR who takes care of my PR relationships. But that’s it. I don’t want to think about other stuff instead of performance. I think it should be acting first and then everything.”
Ask him if there is more pressure on him post the National Award and he says, ”I don’t want to feel pressurized. I really want to be relaxed and peaceful when I’m preparing or when I’m on set. I don’t want to carry any baggage that now that I have won the National Award so I have to perform in a certain way. I don’t think anybody can do that.”
Also starring debutante Patralekha, CITYLIGHTS is directed by National Award winning director Hansal Mehta. Produced by Foxstar Studios and Vishesh Films, the film will release on 30th May, 2014.
