Where many an actresses, who come from south, shift base to Bollywood after making their debut here, actress Rakul Preet, who made her foray into Hindi films with Divya Khosla Kumar's directorial debut YAARIYAN, is back to doing south projects! While we thought the pretty actress would be inundated with offers here, she has as good as 6-7 films lined up down south (YENNAMO YEDHO, AUTONAGAR SURYA, ROUGH, PANDAGA CHESUKO, G Nageshwara Reddy's CURRENT THEEGA, an untitled action-romantic entertainer).
When we quizzed Rakul about returning to Tollywood and was her stint in Bollywood just an experiment, she said, ''No it was not any experiment. I am not shifting anywhere. Actually it appears so because even before YAARIYAN released I had 2 Tamil films which I had already shot for. Incidentally they are now turning up. In between YAARIYAN I was offered few films and once Divyaji's film released I began work on it. I don't differentiate between Hindi and Tollywood cinema. For me both are same. So whatever I get I will work accordingly. I am happy juggling between both the worlds!''
YAARIYAN was first hit of the year and received good response all across. Asked if she expected such response for her debut venture and she said, ''To be honest, when I had signed the film somewhere I knew that being a T-Series film the music will be great, marketing will be superb. And it actually even turned out so. Bollywood has accepted me nicely and it only adds to my happiness quotient.''
Post her commitments down south, Rakul will gear up for yet another Bollywood biggie, which will be announced soon. ''Yes I will begin work on my Hindi project after my assignments here. Right now I can't reveal much but all I can tell you is it's a big banner ensemble cast film with fantastic script. The film will go on floors probably by September-October. It's a very nice role which one may not have seen in long time,'' said the actress.
While Rakul has played light-hearted roles, she is looking forward to do something meaningful. ''The first film chooses you but then it's you who has to make choices. I want to play characters which get registered in the minds of the audiences. Something like Simran of DDLJ and Geet of JAB WE MET, played by Kajol and Kareena Kapoor respectively,'' shared the beautiful actress.
Like any other actress Rakul is also looking forward to work with Khans and Kapoors of Bollywood, however she would never chase to bag any opportunity. She said, ''Who wouldn't want to work with them? But it depends on what you get. What I believe is if it's meant for me it will come to me.''
While Rakul reminds us of 90s actress Priya Gill, she held that people compare her looks with yesteryear diva Sridevi. ''People often tell me that I resemble Sridevi a lot, who is a legendary actress,'' said Rakul on a parting note.
