Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor says he does not think he will be able to compete with the Khans of the film industry.

While in Kolkata to promote his new film BESHARAM, the young Kapoor said on Tuesday: ”I don’t think I can ever compete with the Khans [Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir]. They are the true superstars of the country.”

Sporting a brown jacket with blue denim and wearing his charming smile, Rabir Kapoor also regretted that he would never be able to work with Bengali film director Rituparno Ghosh, who died this year prematurely.

”I wanted to work with Rituparno Ghosh,” he said.

Speaking on the type of role he is attempting in BESHARAM, he said, ”As an actor it is my responsibility to do every genre of films. I do it as convincingly as I can. I liked the story of the film. I took a risk and played a character who is a bit loud, flamboyant, sort of a playboy, a bit vulgar and impulsive.”

”When I say vulgar, I mean the way he talks in the film, the way my character dresses in the film. The theme of the film is, whatever you have to do, do shamelessly, do not think what they world says. Follow your heart and do what you want,’ he said, dwelling on the film.

”I am very lucky to have worked with Anurag Basu, Ayan Mukherjee, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Anurag Kashyap. And I would love to work with Raju Hirani, Aditya Chopra, Sujoy Ghosh,” he said.

Commenting on his experience of working with his parents in BESHARAM, he said: ”It is every child’s dream to work with their parents. It is wonderful to work with them. They are wonderful actors. My dad is my favourite actor. I have learnt from him, how much effort he puts in the film. I tried to observe him. He brought a lot of positivity around me. I have so much to learn from him.”

Speaking on the character he plays in the movie, he says, ”In my personal life, I am very shy. But on camera, I become a bit besharam and this helps me to give my best in the film. My grandfather, Shammi Kapoor was always besharam and I have taken a bit from his character while acting in this film.”

Speaking on Anurag Basu’s next, which is a biography of the iconic star Kishore Kumar, Ranbir said, ”I am taking a little bit of time to understand Kishore Kumar, his madness, his life, etc. I will surely change my look for the film. I will put on little weight with curly hair so that I can match up with the legendary actor.”

He said he would like to act in a remake of his dad’s film, KARZ and ZAMAANE KO DIKHANA HAI.

Commenting on the debutant Pallavi, his co-star in the film, Ranbir said, ”As an actor it’s my duty to encourage new comers. I have acted with so many new comers. Pallavi is very talented and I hope the audience accepts her. I don’t think my character will over shadow her role in the film.”

He also expressed his love for Kolkata.

”I love the city, Kolkata a lot. I love the weather our here. I love the food of Kolkata specially Mishti Doi and Rashogolla,’ he said, adding that he would love to work in a Bengali movie some day.
