Ask Rani how she feels now that she has literally broken every rule with this release and she admits, “Marriage or no marriage, a girl in her 19 or 30s, an action film, romantic film or thriller, or a film with new comers or superstars, whatever be it; a film only with good content will work. All these things come into the foray only when people don’t appreciate the content. If I am doing a role where I am wearing a mini skirt and prancing around and the film doesn’t work then it will be like it didn’t do well because she is married. It is the way you look at it. Before my marriage, if my film didn’t work then people will say things like ‘Her time is gone’, ‘She is not on the top of the game’, ‘She is taking disastrous decisions’ etc.”
However, the actress is thankful that this was not the case with MARDAANI and that people have appreciated her work and the film both.
“We don’t decide whether we make a hit or a flop film. We make the film irrespective of its fate. I have done the film with equal commitment and passion as I would have done AIYYAA. And luckily in case of MARDAANI, people have appreciated my work, the content and so my marriage is not an issue,” she quips adding further, “Otherwise people would have thought ke abhi tu ja beta aur bacche paida kar. Now the attitude has changed. People want me to work. And that has been my mindset as well. As a married professional I would try and do my job as other professionals do. There are so many women who are married and still have a very active professional life. In my life, acting is my job and I will do that. It is just that it is more glamourized version of a job. So the way other women balance their personal and professional life, I will do the same.”
