Post RAM-LEELA and GUNDAY, Ranveer Singh has already joined the big boys, what with a film each with Aditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Zoya Akhtar in the making. On the other hand, Arjun Kapoor too has proved his mettle with his 2 STATES expected to hit the 100 crore mark now. As for Varun Dhawan, he too has enjoyed a 50 crore solo success with MAIN TERA HERO.
Is it time to announce that in a few years from now, Gen X would be ready to take over from seniors like the Khans, Kumar and Devgn who have ruling from the top for over two decades now?
'I guess 'taking over from senior actors' won't be a current representation,' says Arjun, 'What they have done and achieved over so many years isn't something that can be taken over by a hit or two. We have to continue earning appreciation and good work in the same fashion as them and that too for years.'
Meanwhile, Varun too is gearing up for HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIYA and a couple of yet untitled films with Sriram Raghavan and Rohit Dhawan.
With many more biggies waiting to be announced with them, courtesy their recent success, one just hopes that success doesn't sway away the current generation of actors.
'That is possible but then the onus is on you as an individual to keep your head down and not get carried away,' says Varun, 'I have to continue discovering myself and think about what to do as an actor. Abhi toh bass shuru kiya hai. These senior actors have done an admirable work for so long ki abhi hum toh bahaut door hai. As for the new talent getting good recognition and success, I am happy as they should keep coming in every year, every month. That shouldn't be restricted to just actors but all fields.'
