Ask the director of the film S. S. Rajamouli if the story/script of the film is somewhere falling behind and he says, “No, I have been making visual effects oriented films for some years now and the visual-effects are not the important part of the film. They’ll be talked about. Both MAGADHEERA and MAKKHI are highly visual-effects oriented films and both of them won National Awards. So automatically people talk about visual effects. But I don’t look at visual effects as the highlight of a film. I am more interested in the emotions and my characters. If my character is larger than life, his actions have to be larger than life. So that’s why I want him to scale a waterfall which is 3 kms in height. So then I start designing a waterfall which is 3 kms in height. It is not the other way round. It’s not like ‘We have a beautiful waterfall here. How can we incorporate it into the film?’ That is when you tend to fail with visual effects.”

He further adds, “Marketing guys want to showcase the highlights of the film. So if they find visual effects are the highlight, they’ll say that it’s the biggest visual effects film ever. But when we make the film, we never look at it that way.”
